Therapy & Healing

What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is a traditional and natural way of healing, rejuvenating and reviving one’s body, mind and spirit through the use of herbs and restorative medicinal oils and deep curative massages.

The science of Ayurveda was developed in India approximately 6000 years ago as a systematic compilation of natural and herbal therapies to address a host of health related matters and our wellbeing. Ayurveda literally means “knowledge of life” and its guiding principles are believed to have been handed down methodically through great masters and seers.

In Ayurveda, we believe that everything is composed of 5 elements called Panchamahabhutas (fire, water, air, earth, space). By correcting the balance of these elements within ourselves and in relation to the world around us, we will promote good health at all levels.

We achieve this by providing medicated oil therapies, herbal medicines, rejuvenation therapy, diet, yoga and other methods.

Oil therapies help to purify the body by strengthening the internal organs, nervous system, muscles and bones and to regulate the digestive system and through detoxification, it helps with the efficient removal of waste products whilst rejuvenation helps to revive one’s exhausted, misused and abused body, mind and spirit by promoting vitality, strength, stamina, flexibility and youthfulness.

Treatment Approach

A guest who seeks treatment from Ayur Centre will firstly make an appointment to meet with our physician who would then conduct a proper examination to assess the type of health issues and energy imbalance that are faced by this client. Upon a thorough evaluation, which includes a clinical analysis and also counselling, a proper and personalized treatment is prescribed. These therapies could include medicinal oil massages like Swedana that helps to rejuvenate the whole body system and act as an anti-aging technique, a detox program, a renewed diet for weight loss and de-stress methods like meditation and yoga.

For any form of recuperation to be fully effective, our Ayurvedic physician may suggest for a guest to enroll into a retreat at Ayur Centre. This means, the guest will benefit from the healing environment and continuous Ayurvedic procedures of the stay-in program, which would be advantageous to a successful and optimal restorative progress.
